Stourbridge Lion Pour

Public sculpture of two victorian men pouring molten iron into the shape of a lion's head for The Lion Medical Centre, Stourbridge

The Lion Pour was commissioned by Lion Health in 2014 and is located at The Lion Medical Centre in Stourbridge in the West Midlands. The sculpture pays tribute to "The Stourbridge Lion", the first commercial steam locomotive to run in the USA. It was built in the 1820's when this site was an ironworks. The sculpture shows iron workers pouring molten metal into a casting box as they would have done in the 19th century, but here in the 21st century public art sculpture they are making a Lion's head for the medical centre that now occupies this historic site.
