The Gentleman
A large metal sculpture of a Ram dressed in a tweed suit holding a walking cane
The Gentleman is a humorous look at ownership and entitlement. This satirical theme dates back to Victorian times when dressing animals up as humans as a subject for painting became very popular. Today, the Gentleman is a dying breed, largely a figure of history. The Gentleman ram rests on his crook, surveying his land and perhaps his own history, asking the question are we owner or custodian?
