Angel Gates

A large decorative metal gate depicting 'angels of music' playing flute and horn, with fish below that weave through a decorative design of wave patterns.

Commissioned by Ipswich Hospital Band in 2007 these decorative gates stand in the South Porch entrance to St Peter’s Church in Ipswich. St Peters, now deconsecrated, is the home of the Ipswich Hospital Band. The gates were commissioned to depict the brass instruments and their music as well as being in harmony with the setting as a deconsecrated church located at the waterfront in Ipswich. To celebrate the new home of music at the waterfront these metal 'angels of music' are drawn playing flute and horn, with wings that echo instrument parts and fish that weave through a decorative design of wave patterns.
