Divers
A tower of metal figure sculptures, with a deep sea diver, a frogman and a little girl also acting as an informal sign for Whitstable swimming pool
Commissioned by Canterbury City Council in 1995 this public art work is located at Whitstable Pool in Whitstable in Kent.
Divers acts as an informal sign for Whitstable Leisure Pool. As a public art sculpture it was designed to be a happy tower of characters on one top of the other to showcase the history, industry and the leisure activities of this seaside town. At the bottom is a deep sea diver celebrating Whitstable as the home of deep sea diving where the diving helmet was first invented. In the middle a frogman holds a fish from his dive to referencing the fishing industry. At the top a little girl ready with her beach ball is ready to enjoy her dive in the pool.
