Busker

Archway feature of a large metal sculpture of a cartoon busker with his mandolin as if being flown through the air by a phoenix

This public commission was Commissioned by Sandwell Town Council in 1994 for the Windmill Estate in Smethwick, Birmingham. It was located on an underpass on the Windmill Estate known as a place where buskers congregated to play because of the great acoustics there. In this imagining a lyrical cartoon figure holding his mandolin is being flown through the air by a magnificent phoenix. The area has been rebuilt and the busker is now in a private collection.
